Hi everyone!
I have been playing around on pse6 on a Imac making collages/montages using the preset layouts etc in the "create" menu which only give a very limited size to work with. Now I'm ready to move on to bigger and better ones........but how do I do it? I would like a page/image size of 12 inches high by 24 inches wide to start with. All my photos are in iphoto, cropped and ready to use. Any help much appreciated......

Thanks

Angie

Angie:

Start by creating a blank white document to 12 x 24 300 dpi.

Begin to draw boxes with the marquee tools and stroke them so you can see them.
Make them the size you wish the photos to be and move them around to get a nice layout.
When you have a nice layout begin to copy and paste each photo in its appropriate box.
(Select a photo and do a Copy, then select the box you wish the photo to be in and do a paste into, the photo will appear in the center of the box)
You can adjust the size and position once they are all on the poster.
MAKE SURE you put each square (photo) on a separate layer so you can ID the photos you wish to work on.
I'm sure there will be additional help on the way, so don't give up.
Post back with your progress and or questions.

Or create a blank document, make the content palette visible in full edit (window>content) and proceed as you would in Create. Add frames, background, etc. Things will behave a little differently (frames won't go around photos automatically for example) but you can create something pretty close to what you'd get in a Create project.

Thankyou! I found the right buttons etc and can now make a new blank document any size i want, add the photos, move them around, alter their size etc, add in a background from the presets.........all going great until I wanted a plain color background....eg black. How do I make the background a solid color other than white, and different from the presets? I know the foreground/background boxes and the color charts are there...but all the directions I can find are for pse7 and it doesnt work for me, just confuses me more! Is there a easy or simple way to make the background a solid color anything but white?

Hi Angie ...

Use the colour picker to select a new foreground colour that you like and then to Edit>Fill Layer ... choose foreground colour as the option :)
