I have PSE 6 and recently bought a new computer w/Vista 64 bit. I was able to edit for about two weeks and now when I go into editor it just shuts down. Geek Squad says Vista 64 won't support PSE 6. So why did it work for 2 weeks? Is there a way around this? Will Windows 7 be a solution next month or simply further confuse me?

Debbie, I have Vista 64 bit system and both PSE 6 and 7. They are both compatible with 64 bits. There must be some other reason for your problem. Have you installed any new software recently? If not, I think I would try Windows Restore...Bill

Debbie,

Though Adobe doesn't officially support PSE 6 on Vista 64, many people have reported that it works just fine:

Your problems are most likely unrelated to Vista 64. I suggest that you start working through these troubleshooting steps:

Debbie, I too have been running 6 on a Vista 64 laptop for months without difficulty.

Have you recently installed any new plug-ins? If so, try removing them.
Will Organizer start up? If so, try starting Editor from Organizer.

Have you tried the three-fingered start-up that will reset your preferences? It frequently solves some unknown problems, and is the first choice before a full re-install.

Start Elements with the CTRL, ALT and SHIFT keys all held down at the same time. After a moment you will get a dialog that asks if you want to delete the preferences, answer yes, and Elements will rebuild its preferences to default conditions.

If that' doesn't solve the problem, start working thru John's list.
