Typically I do not feel that it is good to answer questions without details. Taking things for granted usually leads to problems. Knowing the Premiere Elements version involved should be the header. But, there are so many ways I could interpret between the lines. Having trouble could mean a lot of things. But, here is what I believe to be the most likely interpretation of your question. If I am wrong, please correct me so that we can work together to get your important project moving forward.
For this scenario, I am assuming throughout that the project preset = NTSC DV Standard with the intended export = DVD-VIDEO Standard.
1. You have opened a new project .prel ORIGINAL in Premiere Elements (version x), imported your "original file", edited it, and saved (NOT EXPORTED) the .prel file to the hard drive for future work. Here it would be very helpful to know what you set for the project preset (new project dialog) and what the source and format of the video is).
2. Then you opened another new project .prel SMALL in Premiere Elements (version x), imported some video and/or photos, edit them, and now have them sitting on the Premiere Elements Timeline in that project .prel, wanting to add them to your project .prel ORIGINAL with the "original" file.
If that is the case, then:
1. With project .prel SMALL opened, your Timeline content selected, File Menu/Export/Movie to export that Timeline to DV AVI. When the process is completed, you will have a copy of the DV AVI in the media of the project that you are in as well as a copy saved to the hard drive location that you designated. Save and close that project.
2. Open your project .prel ORIGINAL and import your DV AVI from its saved hard drive location to the Premiere Elements Media/Timeline of this ORIGINAL project .prel.
Remember to do mini test runs before the grand project. Make sure that your computer has enough resources to get the job done. We could go into video source, format, duration, pixel dimensions of still (if used), time of Timeline content, but you have not mentioned them. So, I am "assuming" that you have looked into those considerations and have no concerns.
Please update me on your progress.

ATR,
Thank so much for your help. even without all the information your advice helped and worked great. I am running premier elements 7.0. your assumptions where correct in what i was doing. i am not sure what you where talking about in regards to "video source, format, duration, pixel dimensions of still (if used), time of Timeline content." I am just kind of learning as i go. I am by no means a professional just trying to do some cool stuff for my church. I was able to post the smaller project on you tube it's of the Sunday school children making some 'T' shirts for our priest and our Matushka. if you have time check it out here is the address.

and please let me know what you think any tips are welcome.
hopefully I will be able to post more of these up and speed up the process this one took me almost 7 hours to finish. I think that had a lot to do with getting familiar with the beat detector and a few other things. but thanks again so much for your help ATR.
thank you

I just watched your YouTube movie from start to end.
First I want to congratulate you on an excellent YouTube presentation. The video motion, quality, content were excellent. I thought that the music selection could have been lighter for the occasion, but I do not have a good suggestion for an alternative. I would have to think about that. Maybe next time around consider a Title at the beginning and titles over the video if they do not distract from the action. You did a great job.
I thought that you had a DVD-VIDEO in mind when you mentioned "movie for your church" and did not realize that you were going for an upload to YouTube. What export did you use, Share/Personal Computer/MPEG, WMV or a direct upload to YouTube from Premiere Elements?
The members of your church who directed the activities should be given special metals of honor for guiding the children through the hand painting on those T-Shirts. Those T-Shirts were great. I smiled all the way through watching the great pleasure that all took in participating in the project. I hope your camera managed to keep clear of that paint which was everywhere.
I am very impressed with your project. Keep up the good work. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Thanks for the vote of confidence in my presentation. I will past on the message to the Sunday school teachers on giving them a medal of honor.
I used a direct upload to you tube from Premier Elements to post the composition. But this is the small file that i created that is being imported into a larger one. This way I figured it would reduce the risk of me messing something up with the much larger project as well as give me a chance to post this on to you tube. As for the music I definitely agree with you there is another song that would be more suited here. I could not find anything that I liked in my files that would fit. I think that I found a good fit for the next peace that i am going to be doing for the children's picnic where they received special icons from our priest.
Thanks again
Tony B.

You really did do a great job on all fronts.
Most people do not get that direct upload from Premiere Elements (Share/Online/YouTube) to work for them and they end up exporting the Timeline from Share/Personal Computer and then uploading that file to YouTube at the YouTube site.
