Here is a before and after pic I am working on. I used the liquify tool to slim down he "jowls" ( I guess that's correct, the area at the jaw line). My problem is--it takes too long to open and then what ever I do, takes to long. I try to make an adjustment and I wait about ten seconds just to size the brush. Then, when I move the center marker, I have to wait about ten seconds to see what is happening and then go back--wait another 10 secs- try it again-wait-etc.I was successful in doing what I wanted to do but it sure did not work like Matt's tut.. Now- who knows why?? It's a fun tool, I guess. BillandCat

Hi Bill ...

First thing is you did a great job on the image !! ... nice work on it :)

As far as using Liquify goes ... well it takes lots of processing power so thats why it seems slow. The more powerful your computer the quicker it is so I suspect thats why Matt's looked quicker to do.

Thanks Wendy for your kind words and quick response. I am using a Mac OX10.4 (Tiger) and know little about computers. You say it could possibly be my computer. If all other functions on pse work normaly, why is it just liquify that is so slow? When I try to make an adjustment, I have no idea how much or what it looks like so it is a guess and hope process. Does any one else have this problem or should I tote this computer back to my favorite toy store--The Apple Store? Billandcat

Hi Bill ...

Which sort of Mac are you using and how much Ram do you have ??

... but Liquify really does push the processing power of a computer and the more alterations you make then the longer the rendering takes. On my old iMac it took forever :)

On my Windows computer, which functions fairly quickly otherwise - liquify does take considerably longer - so long that it annoys me too much to use it very often.

I play Spider in between. :D

Wendy--I have a Mac Tiger. How do I know or find out how much ram I have? As I said earlier, I am computer ignorant in many ways. It comes with old age, the ability to grasp new knowledge. Sorry to bother you with questions that I should, no doubt, know the answers to. Bill

Hi Bill ...

Click on the little apple sign on the top left of your screen and select "About this Mac" the first page will tell you what your processor is (for example mine is 2 x 3.2 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon) and will also tell you what memory you have installed (mine is 4GB)

Then click on more ... and you will get lots more info. Its fun looking around that :)

.. but at the end of the day I suspect that you are just running into the slowness of liquify. I'm running quite a powerful Mac so its not too bad on mine but on my old iMac there was time to make a coffee and drink it whilst it was rendering

To all that posted replies-- My son paid me a visit today, he lives in another stae, and he his a lot more comp. wise than I. He told me the same thing as Wendy and then told me I had too many things open. I closed all apps in the work bar, tried liquify again and EVERY THING worked like it is supposed to. Yep-- it is a fun tool. So thanks every one and I learned something new. I had no idea that just because these icons had that little black diamond underneath them it would affect pse. So thanks again, maybe some one else will learn something from this. Billandcat
