View Full Version : Can't tell my brush sizes any more

I use Photoshop Elements 7 and somehow I messed up a setting.

When I choose my brush tool, clone tool, or eraser tool the cursor turns into a pretty little brush icon, clone stamp icon, or eraser instead of a circle the size of the brush I'm working with. As I increase the brush size the icon doesn't get bigger - so I can't tell where I am brushing, cloning or erasing.

There has to be a setting somewhere that I changed. But I can't find it. And I don't even know what to search for in help (or on these forums). Resetting the tools and/or all tools doesn't help a bit. I'm so frustrated!! It's impossible to edit pictures with the settings as they are.

I hope someone knows this answer!

Make sure your scroll lock is not on...:)

Thanks for the advice I remember now that scroll lock can cause problems. I checked and it wasn't on.... clicked it a few times though just to see if turning it on and off would help. No luck.

Thanks though!

Yea, I found the answer!!!!

I found an answer from Bayla

Try going to Edit>Preferences>Display & Cursors. Make sure your brush is set to normal Brush Tip. This will give you a circle to paint with (or a crosshair if you have Caps Lock on) If you are seeing a picture of a square eraser it is because you have the option 'Standard' selected.

I love this forum and all the contributors!

Now if only I could figure out how to delete a duplicate thread that I created by mistake.

Hi ...

... and welcome to the Village :)

Members can't actually delete threads on the forum ... but Moderators can so I just did a quick search and then deleted the duplicate for you ...
