Hi ATR

Thanks very much for return email, I guess it was only actually 10 days, but seemed easier to say two weeks, no problems will await any suggestions.

But aside from that issue, I have a quick question which I am hoping you can advise me.
I am looking at purchasing a new Still Digital Camera, and at this stage am favouring Panasonic DMC TZ7. To my question, this camera takes HD Video, not that Video is of major concern to me, as Little Nac does most of the video on his Panasonic, but I am worried that if I do take some video, and include it in my slides etc. in PE7, will I have problems once burnt to a DVD will it play thru standard DVD Players (not Blue-Ray) on TV. According to a particular salesman, not that I take to much notice of salesmen, he stated that if it was burnt to a DVD it will not play on a standard DVD, is that correct or not?. I have done a little bit of research, and from what I read, from some reports, edited in Premier Elements and burnt to a Disk no problem. Come to think of it, we have used HD motion backgrounds in various projects and have had no problem.
Any advise and knowledge is greatly appreciated.:(

Good Morning

That Panasonic DMC-TZ7 with video editing in Premiere Elements 7 will probably be challenging. From what I read, it offers high definition recording with two possible video formats: AVCHD Lite and Motion JPEG.

Take a look at the following FAQ on AVCHD Lite from the Premiere Elements User to User Forum at Adobe:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/454585?tstart=0
Motion JPEG has had its difficulties with standard, so I wonder about it as high definition choice of codec. I noticed that shooting Motion JPEG in non HD formats is an option.

There is a big difference burning a AVCHD Lite file to a DVD disc and burning a AVCHD Lite file to a DVD-VIDEO format on a DVD disc. Which one did you envision? And, where do you intend to play the final product?

With AVCHD Full Non Full and AVCHD Lite (720p/1280 x 720) you will be getting into a new realm of activity. Does your computer have the resources to deal with 720p, 1080i (Full or Non Full)

To be continued, if necessary

Have you thought about going the good old miniDV camcorder route with firewire connection and its HD and/or SD footage coupled with its better prospects for editing in Premiere Elements?

I would look into a good deal on one of those types of camcorders unless you are ready for some editing challenges with alternatives to the miniDV camcorder.

Also, take a look at the Premiere Elements 7 Help PDF section link that I just posted for Little Nac in the hope that it might address the questions that you both have on adding clips (effects created) to the Premiere Elements Timeline.

I just saw the good or not so good news that you decided to go ahead with the Panasonic and accept the challenge.

Read up on all the camcorder details as well as the information available for editing its video before you launch it. Maybe do some mini projects so that recording and editing a grand event are not spoiled.

Congratulations on your new purchase. I know that you will do great on whatever you do.
