I just acquired a new, whizzier computer (64-bit Core 2) and installed Adobe Elements (7.0). But all my previous albums, projects and tags are gone. It did give me the option to import the tags (to the wrong categories, but no album info. Does anyone know if that info is recoverable? Thanks,

If the previous computer also had PSE7, you need to transfer the catalog file (My catalog.pse7db is the default name) to your new computer, make sure that all of your images are in the exact same directories as before, and then double-click on the catalog file.

If the previous computer had an earlier version of PSE, the instructions are the same except instead of double-clicking on the catalog file (My catalog.psa or My catalog.psedb), you need to covert it via File->Catalog->Convert.

Thank you, Paige! I'll look for the db file on my backup drive.

I found my older catalog file on my backup drive. Quick clarification:

If the previous computer also had PSE7, you need to transfer the catalog file to your new computer

By transfer, do you mean copy catalog.pse7db to the catalog (ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\Catalogs\My Catalog) directory?

then double-click on the catalog file.Double-click on the actual, physical file or somewhere inside Elements?

Sorry. Total newbie. :o

You can put the .pse7db file anywhere on your new computer.

Then, double-click in Windows to open it.

Thank you, Paige. That worked like a charm. I made that way harder than it needed to be. :)
