I have both PSE3 and 4 on my computer. I know I can't use them simutaneously(right??), but if I use one of the new tools in 4 and save the image as a .psd file, can I close PSE4 and reopen the image in 3? I think this should work. I haven't really used 4 all that much yet, but I've been reading more and more tutorials that use the "new" tools so I know I'm going to want to use them eventually. I also like my Grant's Tools and other goodies that I can only use in 3.
Just wondering . . .

Deb,
I do all the time. I'm more comfortable with 3 and you can run some actions and things in 3 you can't in 4 so I frequently switch back and forth after saving my image. I'll use 4 more as I get more comfortable with it but just like being able to do those extra things in 3.

Hi Deb ...

I keep quite a few versions on my Mac and quite happily switch back and forth. The good thing about the Mac is that you can have many version actually open at the same time ... now that does make it easier when someone asks a question on a specific version ...

... only down side is that there isn't a Mac PSE4 :(

Wendy: If/when a Mac version of PSE4 emerges, I hope that it corrects the shortcomings of the Windows version - especially the removal of the Browser.

Worst case scenario is that they finally give you an integrated Editor-Organizer package...oh, joy!

Chuck ...

My guess is that it is proving just too difficult to do ... and by now I guess that a lots of people would skip it and wait for the next version :)

Organiser indeed !!! :) :)

Wouldn't be too upset Wendy. I tried out the trial version of PSE4 for a month and wasn't wildly excited about it (and not because of the loss of the file browser as I'm an Organiser woman myself), so didn't upgrade.

One thing intrigues me. You have the full Photoshop don't you, so why do you still run/need Elements?
