I had to reinstall Premiere Elements due to some computer problems. I successfully installed it and then installed the Content. Everything seems fine except the Text Animations do not appear. I checked and there is no Text Animations folder within the Presets folder. How can I get the text animations back?

Thank you!

What version of Premiere Elements are you using? I am assuming Premiere Elements 7 for now.

First, double check that you have followed the correct route to the Text Animation Folder in the Program Files:
Program Files
Adobe
Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0
Presets
Text Animation

Next, click on the computer Start, followed by Search. Then enter "Text Animation" in the All of part of the file name:...look in Local Hard Drives...

If you still cannot find the Text Animation Folder, then I was suggest a clean uninstall, followed by a reinstall.

Did you ever have the Text Animation, even before the computer failure? Is anything else missing like DVD Templates, Text Styles, etc.? Check it out to make sure.

I did get the Text Animations back, but it wasn't easy. I tried a complete reinstall of the program itself and the Content. That didn't work. I then tried downloading the Content again and reinstalled that. Still nothing. I then found the zipped versions of the Text Animation and other Presets files with the program install files. I unzipped the Text Animations and put them in the right place, and they now appear in the program. The big question is: why were the Presets installed during the installation of the program itself?

Thank you for your help.

That was great news...the part about you now have Text Animation options as part of your Premiere Elements program.

But the rest of the news is another story.

I have never run into zipped Text Animations or other Preset Files. What kind of an program installation did you do...was it from a disc or was it from a download from Adobe (no disc)?

I will look into this further to see if I can figure out what went on there.

Congratulations on your success. Did you see my write up on Text Animations?

Thank you again for your concern about this. I installed it from a download. They were definitely .zip. Let me know if you need more information. I did see your write-up which was helpful.

I have always purchased Photoshop Elements and/or Premiere Elements as the boxed version with disc.

In the download that you got from Adobe, is there a ReadMe on download/installation that might addressed the issue of the missing Text Animations and zip folder(s) within a zip folder? Since unzipping the Text Animation Folder yourself was the answer, it is odd that the Text Animation Folder was singled out and that more in the Presets Folder were not involved in the issue.

I will continue to be on the watch for an explanation.

There readme file did mention this issue. I checked, and the download file for Premiere Elements, in addition to the install files, creates a folder called Core Templates. Within that is a folder called core_presets.zip. Within that is Logos, Templates, and Text Animations. Logos and Templates is also part of the Content installation, but not Text Animations. Very strange.

I do not a definitive answer to the puzzlement yet, but I did find some interesting online chat about problems with Adobe's software download site re: lack of instructions and some confusion. Software got good marks, but matters related to the software download from Adobe were on the cons side.
