if and when I move from my old G4 to a new mac - what files should I move from the old to the new. I plan on doing fresh install of Elements 6 from the install disk. I'm assuming that I'll have to go through all the Plug-ins, presets, Templates, etc. and compare the old with the new - but I know there are more files out there that I'll probably have to move. Any suggestions?
~thanks ~bruce.

Hi Bruce ...

You will need to look at brushes, styles, shapes, etc ...

What I did was start preparing early and I created some folders and names them after each of the items. For example I started a brushes folder and put copies of all the brushes I added into PSE6.

If you need to know which are the ones that come preinstalled with Elements just let me know and I will check any of the sections out for you. :)

Wendy - I have a complete back up of the hard drive from my old computer on an external hard drive. I believe that I should be able to just plug the external firewire drive into the new comp and then have both sets of files side by side and then drag ones from the old onto the new? That would mean going into the Presets and Plugins and dragging across. Do you know of other files outside of the Adobe Photoshop Elements 6>Presets, Plug-ins that I need to find and drag across also? If memory serves me right - I have some actions (e.g. jigsaw puzzles) that I would like to use on the new computer - when I do this. I am planning on a fresh install from installation disk and not taking the program from the old computer. Just trying to cover my bases before I get in too deep:-)

As always - thanks for your help.
~bruce.

Hi Bruce ...

You will indeed be able to drag and drop using the firewire :)

All the actions etc will need reinstalling ... if you get the instructions for Grant's Tools and follow those instructions for installing all your actions you should be OK. Just let me know if when you are ready to do it and I will help you :)
