Premiere Import Problem

Help! When I import a .avi clip, I can see it that it appears to import and even play in the monitor but I cannot see or hear it. It does play in Windows media player and real player. Any ideas?

Was the AVI a clip captured with Premiere Elements or another program? Premiere Elements works best with files it captures via Firewire.
