Has anyone seen this? I have been running PE7 and was trying to add narration. In the past this has not been a problem. But suddenly today, it acts up and gives this error. If I start a new project, then it works fine. But if I want to use the project that actually needs the narration, I get this message:
Src\AudioRender\AudioPrefetch.cpp-84.

Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Could you clarify..."If I start a new project, then it works fine...." Please explain what works fine and what you mean by "...if I want to use the project that actually needs the narration, I get ....."

Are you saying that:

1. if you open a new project, but do not add narration, just go about your video editing, then you do not get the error message.

2. if you open a project that has been saved, just go about your re-editing, and then try to add narration, you get the error message.

What type of microphone are you using?

If you create a narration clip wav with a free program such as Audacity
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
and bring the narration clip into Premiere Elements 7 with its Get Media/Files & Folders, do you get any errors in the process?

Also, what changes has your computer undergone since the time when you say Premiere Elements narration worked for you? Have you changed microphones? Has System Restore been on all this time?

What is your computer operating system, 32 bit or 64 bit, and what are your computer resources?

To be continued....

If I open a new project then all is fine and I can do my narration as usual with no problem. The problem seems to be with this file that will not allow me to add the narration.

1. yes
2. yes
Using a Samson USB desk mic.
I can add sound without a problem but can't narrate my own.
The only change that the computer has seen is that before all files were on an external HD and now all files have been placed on the internal HD. Internal HD is 1TB and is about 50% full. Computer is XP 64 bit, dual Xeon processors, 8GB RAM.

Two things that classically would be going against you:
a. USB microphones do not usually work with Premiere Elements (lots of problems)
b. You are running Premiere Elements 7, a 32 bit application, in a Windows XP 64 bit operating system (Premiere Elements 7 does not officially support a 64 bit operating system although you will find reports that the program is working in 64 bit systems). Because it is a 32 bit application, the max. utilization RAM is 4 GB, not 8. Do you know how much available RAM your system has? Am I correct, that you have about 500 GB of free hard drive space available?

In spite of all that, you say:
a. you have had no problems with doing narration with your USB microphone within Premiere Elements 7 in this computer environment until recently
b. if you open a new project, you can add narration within the program,
are you saying that it is the second narration that you cannot add
or
it is just a reopened project that you cannot add narration to if it was saved with a narration created within Premiere Elements?

If the problem is adding a second narration, what happens to the problem if you delete the first narration clip on the Narration Track and then try to add a new narration from within Premiere Elements? Does removing the first allow you to add another narration within the program? How long is the narration clip that you create within Premiere Elements?

Since this all has worked before, I am tempted to suggest the following:
a. System Restore to a point when you knew the narration was working properly
b. Complete clean uninstall/reinstall of Premiere Elements after you have verified that you computer drivers are updated (do not bother with Repair, since that rarely works with these programs)

Please excuse this next question, but I need to ask just to make sure...where is your Timeline Indicator placed before you initiate your second Add Narration Session in Premiere Elements?

Please review my comments and try a and b above. Make sure those audio drivers are updated as well as the audio settings under Edit Menu/Preferences/Audio hardware ASIO.
