Alright, I know there are several threads about this problem, but none of the answers seem to work with my issue. I am in 8 bit rgb mode, and my filters are gone. I am working in Elements version 6 on a Mac computer. Here is a screenshot of the vanishing filters

I noticed if I click on the blank places, it pops up with an error message and the name of the filter that is missing.

I am not a computer genius, so I might not catch on if you use crazy computer lingo :(
If anyone needs any additional information, let me know! Oh yes, and my filters were all working up to this point, and suddenly they just poofed
Thanks!

Hi ...
... and welcome to the Village :)
Have you been trying to add some actions into PSE6 ??
First thing I would suggest is that you delete the prefs ...
To do that close down Elements then click on the Editor start up icon and quickly hold down the Command, Option and Shift Keys. Continue to hold down all three keys until you get a screen asking if you want to delete Settings ... just say Yes. You do have to be quick holding down the keys so if you have problems with it try holding down the keys with one hand before you click on the icon :)
It that doesn't work then try deleting the Mediadatabase file. To do that close down Elements then rename the Mediadatabase.db3 to MediadatabaseOLD.db3 (it is located at Library\Application Support\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Locale\ en-US) and restart Elements ... the Mediadatabase.db3 will rebuild but you may have to wait a while for it to do so.
Whilst it is rebuilding donlt clik on anything just wait ...
Hope one of those works :)

Thank you for the welcome!
Alright, I tried both of the options that you said, and neither worked. Well, I guess they worked but it didnt change anything :)
It reset the settings, but that did not change anything noticeable. It did ask me to reset the settings and I said yes.
I found the file and renamed it, and after opening elements there was a little blue bar on the bottom of the screen under the icon that took maybe a minute (if that) to load completely and then it opened how it did before. I didnt touch anything after I did this for maybe 10 minutes, but nothing appeared like it was supposed to
Thanks for trying, but I still have the same problem. Vanishing boxes and error messages. :(

Oh ... those usually work :(
About all I can think of now is to uninstall Elements (and for PSE6 you have to use the uninstaller) then to reinstall it.
... but that does mean that you will loose anything you have added into it like brushes, actions etc
Wendy
EDIT ... is everything else working on the Mac ?? and another thought is try closing down your Mac and opening it. Also have you repaired permissions recently ?? ... let me know if you haven't and I'll talk you through it.

*sigh*
That is what I figured. I left the disk in Virginia after I moved out of my parents house, so I will just get them to ship it to me. Thats why I didnt just do that in the first place.
I wonder why it would just all vanish. I dont really use the filters that often, but having them gone annoys me. :P
Thanks for the help!
EDIT:
Yep, I have restarted several times, and also have reset the permissions. I think I stalked every possible filter poofing problem on the form before posting myself, and one of them suggested that.
