I've posted a picture of a girl at pixentral http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=19gw9t2VaJyn3OKf6FffSc5PmlMtlU0

It's a very long zoom in of a considerably larger picture my wife took on her Finepix. As a result it's pretty pixellated. The look on the girl['s face is what appealed to me and I've tried to "smooth" things out. I vignetted it and softened it and smoothed it with various filters and this is the best I can do. Not bad, actually, but still somewhat pixellated. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your interest,
Jack

Hi Jack,

You've probably done as good as it can get under the circumstances. You can upsize an image to some degree without getting too pixelated by using a series of 110% increases.

First double click on the Zoom tool (looks like a magnifying glass) to get a 100% view of the image. From the menu: Image > Resize > Image Size... in the Image Size dialog, change the Document size to percent and enter 110% in both width and height, then click OK. Repeat this several times... but if you go too far, it will start looking degraded.

Hope this helps.

You were right, Diana; that picture was as good as it could get. But I thank you for pointing me to a way to build it up. I can see a benefit there in better circumstances. Much appreciated.
