My first post at Elements Village but done lots of reading here.
When I start Elements 5.0 I get this error message and Elements will not start.

" Could not load the FastCore Routines module because the file could not be found."

I'm clueless as to what it is. I tried to repair the install, and that got me no where, then I tried to remove and reinstall, same result. The only option I have left is a system restore. Anyone have any idea as to what this problem is and how to overcome it? This just started out of the blue. The only thing that has changed to my knowledge is I changed monitors a few days back from a 19" screen to a 26" wide screen, both by Dell.

Using Windows 7RC on a home built system.
Any input would be appreciated.

Are you using the 5.0.2 (Vista) patch, which may also be helpful with Win7?

No, I didn't know about a patch. What is funny is it was working under W7 and now it's not. I guess it's possible that Windows did a upgrade and that knocked it out. I'll see if I can find the PSE502.

When I tried to install the 5.02 I found out that I was already using 5.0.2 unbeknownst to me. I have not idea when It updated on it's own. And maybe that's the problem, 5.0.2 does not work on Windows 7.

I will try downloading Elements 7 to see if it works. Their download site it down at the moment.

OK, if you decide to go back to PSE 5.0(.2), there seem to be some slightly complicated maneuvers that may fix your problem. Let us know.

I finally was able to download Elements 7, their servers were down most of the day. I am trying the 30 day trial version to make sure it does not develop the same problem 5 did.

Anyway PSE version 7 is working on Windows 7 at the moment. I put version 5 on a older computer with XP and it ran on that PC but painfully slow. Very painfully.

I am perplexed as to why 5.0 just up and quit working, nothing I did could bring it back to life.
