Hi, I am a new MAC owner and just got PSE6 (have pse7 on my old dell). However, I am trying to install actions and I have followed EVERY step on all tutorials (more than once) and still do NOT have the action in my effects. I am over confused, lost and highly annoyed. Anyone care to help??

spncr6, here's a link to a question posted earlier about installing actions on a mac.
Read through and see if it solves your problem.

Thanks Frank, I have tried the first link...no such luck. And the 2nd doesn't seem to offer any new insight.

spncr6, your answer may be here. There seems to be questions and answers on installing actions. It's worth a try.

Which actions are you trying to install? It would be helpful for those of us with Macs to try and use the same ones you're attempting.

When you rename the Mediadatabase file to MediadatabaseOLD and restart Elements, does it go through the whole "rebuilding" content stuff?

Hi spncr6 ..

... and welcome to the Village :)

Just let us know which action you are trying to install and one of us will help you ... as a general guide the actions do need to be written for Photoshop Elements and not for Photoshop.

I know that a lot of folks here recommend renaming preferences and files like mediaDatabase.db3, but really you should trash them. You aren't going ever to need to put them back again and getting rid of them makes sure they can't be accessed by your computer.

EDIT the only exception is old versions of the raw plug-in and on a mac I'd just zip that up to make sure it's not seen as available.

Phew:

I've attempted to load raw files into iPhoto, unsuccessfully. Even tho, what is interesting is that the pictures were displayed in iPhoto. But that's not our problem.

My question is specifically will PSE6 accept the above RAW files and display the photos?

Spncr6,

I was curious if you had found your answer to how to install the actions. If you have not please send me a PM and I can e-mail a PDF of directions I wrote for a friend who was having difficulty. I have included screen shots which can be helpful.

No, but it can support tiffs.
