Hi,

I've bought/downloaded any number of papers, elements, etc. for scrapbooking. I always just kept them in my pictures file so it would be easy to access from Elements, but I found I never knew what I had. So I spent the other night putting them all into a new iPhoto library (now I"m up to 5 LOL). Haven't finished tagging and cataloging them all though. ugh. It's nice cause it's very easy to see what I have and find what I'm looking for.

I was just wondering what other Mac people found to be a good workable solution for them.

Thanks!

Hi Eleanor ...

I just keep mine in a folder system on my hard disk ... I donlt put them into iPhoto.

Hi, Eleanor. Why not put them on your HD, in a folder named "scrapbooking stuff" and view them through Bridge?
Once you have Bridge running you can open, move, or delete any document with a click. This eliminates the extra step required when using iPhoto.

Hi, Eleanor. I'm a PC user who is just tickled with ACDSee (came free with my little P&S camera). I see they also have a MAC version:

I like your idea of creating a library just for scrapbooking stuff. Can each library have it's own ie different keywords?

Hi Linda ...

The separate library for Scrapbooking kits is something I have been suggesting over at Scrapper Guide and several people there have now done it. One problem that has come up is with some png files you can't see the item that is in it ... its all to do with black & white and how iPhoto handles those colours.

On the keywords issue several people have used keywords and I haven't come across anyone having problems with it ... It may be worth setting a new library and just adding a couple of items to check it out.

Although this is something I have been suggesting other people try out (rather than adding all the scrapbook kits into the main iPhoto library) I have still stayed with my folder system rather than changing over myself :)

I currently have a folder system for my scrapbook stuff/brushes/texture etc. May give the library a try. Tx for the info. P.S> Whatever happened to practicing what you preach?;)

Hi Linda ...

Oh that did make me laugh ... the only reason that I didn't bother to follow my own advice is that the only kits I have are the ones from Scrappers Guide and my own.

I'm not really a kit collector so I didn't need to catalogue them all :)

PS ...I'm useless at tagging and cataloguing I just rely on remembering where things are

I used to have a memory, but the hot flashes boiled them:rolleyes:

:D;)

ROFL with that one! Know precisely what you mean. And yes, you can have different keywords with each library.

I'm going to give my Scrapbooking library a fair shot. What I found with keeping the kits in folders I had to do too much work looking for what I wanted and most of them ended up not being used. What is nice about iPhoto, I can add in the description pane where I got them so I can give proper credit when needed.

The only drawback is that the black background I use for my photos is not real great for some scrapbooking items. So I just change the preference to white when I need to.

If you try it, let us know how you like managing things like that.

Thanks. I did check it out and will keep it in mind. The Mac version is in early beta so, for now, it may not be the best choice for me.
