I posted a pic in response to a question of correcting a "purple picture" I took a screen shot, made my adjustments, added a very short memo of what I did--and posted to this forum by Pixentral. It came through ok but my question is--"What did I do wrong, as when I click on the thumbnail in the post, it will not open to a larger photo." Not too important for this instance but I would like to know for future usage of pixentral. Thanks ahead---BillandCat

Hi Bill,

Did you copy the code at the bottom of the photo, where it says "Forum" ?

http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1xjYD9Ii6mVIF6NH31ej0catPX3fA_thumb.jpg (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1xjYD9Ii6mVIF6NH31ej0catPX3fA)

When you copy it, make sure you highlight the whole string of text... the best way to do that is to triple-click on it, then right click on the highlighted text and choose Copy from the popup menu. Then go to your post, right click and choose Paste, or use your browser's menu Edit>Paste.

Hope this helps.

I know the problem you are speaking of. Instead of getting the photo thumbnail that enlarges when clicked on, you get a blue hotlink that ends in thumbs.jpg.

After much trial and error, here is the partial solution that I have found so far for my WIN XP system (not sure Mac users have this problem at all). Note the problem seems to be confined to FireFox and not IE. Don't know about any other browsers.

1) create a new FireFox profile and give it a name (Run and enter firefox -p). (Be sure to leave Don't ask at startup unchecked) Open FF using the new profile. You can visit the Village if you like and see that the pixentral image is working Ok. Close FF
2) go to the new profile folder, open it and locate the file cookies.sqlite
3) mark cookies.sqlite Read only - be sure to Save this change
4) copy cookies.sqlite from the new profile folder and paste it to the folder of the FireFox profile that does not display pixentral images properly (overwrites the old file)
5) close out and open a new session of FireFox using the old profile that wasn't working
6) when you are back at the Village check to see that you now have the thumbnail photo properly displayed and that it enlarges when clicked

You will likely find that this "fix" is not permanent - it will last from a few sessions to perhaps a few days or even a week, but eventually that cookies.sqlite file will again somehow become corrupted, and the process will need to be repeated which is why I do not delete the new FF profile I created. I keep it around so I can again copy that file I marked Read only and repeat the process.

So far as I know Elements Village is the only web forum that has this problem. The above has been discovered after many hours of trial and error, and if anyone knows of a permanent fix I would be happy to hear of it.

PS - not positive about this, but that file seems to hold up until you make a posting to the EV forum - then it dies.

Yes, just remember that this problem affects your viewing not only of pictures you have posted via pixentral, but those posted by others as well.

BTW - Testing further today, I have confirmed that posting to the Village, whether with a picture or not, will definitely cause the cookies.sqlite file to malfunction, at least on my PCs and who knows how many others?
