When I have edited a JPEG photo and want to save I get the answer: Could not complete your request due to a program error. I doesnīt matter if I just Save or if I Save as.

Has anyone got an explanation?

I would try deleting Elements' preferences. Here is Wendy's "how to" link (http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32054)

Hope that helps:)

ollewickbom:
Does this also happen when you try to save it as a psd or other format?
You can try resetting your preferences.
Quit Elements then holding down the Cmd+Option+Shift relaunching Elements. At the prompt "Do you want to reset preferences"? click OK

I,m sorry Frank, that didnīt help when I save as JPEG format. When I save as psd, tiff, pct or png itīs OK.

But Iīve noted that if I save as tif before I edit then it works to save as jpg afterwards. Which of course should be the proper way to do it because then the edit doesnīt lower the quality of the photo. Right?

Hi, you aren't trying to save as JPEG2000?
That is a special format that only works with 16bit(I think).

Your correct on the last point, but I think the loss is minor.

Frank, have you any other solutions worth testing?

ollewickbom, my only other suggestion is to uninstall and reinstall PSE. You can find the uninstaller on your original install disks.

Did you remember to flatten layers before saving as jpg?

I pretty sure you don't have to flatten layers before saving. The layers auto flatten upon saving in Jpeg.
I notice this in CS2, is it different in PSE?

It should flatten the layers automatically when you save as a jpg ..

The only thing I can think of now is to try an uninstall and then a reinstall
