This is the first time I have posted to Elements Village but I have been a reader for some time. I have learned a lot from its pages and just recently I have been looking at tutorials making photographs look like paintings or sketches.

Looking around outside ‘The Village’ I came across a stand alone programme for achieving this which I thought might be of interest to other members. I think it produces very good results and it’s completely free. It’s called ‘Fotosketcher’ and can be downloaded from here.

It gives plenty of user control and of course the final result can be transferred to PE for further tweaking.

As a demo here are some variations on an original photograph of mine of houseboats on the Regents Canal in London, an area known as ‘Little Venice’ and I have shown it in various forms.

Thanks for posting the link. Here's an example. I changed a few settings and added a frame. Good quick way to "make art" if you are in a hurry.
