Hello. In various tutorials for Photoshop in the layer styles the 'bevels' are softened with the 'Soften' slider. However in Elements I am aware that there is no soften slider, but is there a work around for this. In other words is there a way in which I can still soften the bevel? Thanks you.

Hi Sm786!
I use PSE 5 and I use the opacity slider to soften bevels.:)

Hi ...
The soften slider in Photoshop softens the bevel effect itself and there really isn't a way of doing that in Elements ... however you can try searching for some other bevel effects (try a google search) and one of those may well have a softer bevel that would work for you.

Thank you MapCap and Wendy. I was able to get the look I want using the blur and smudge tools, but I will also try the opacity slider and looking online. :)

sm786,
Something else you might try. After you've applied a bevel, double click on the fx symbol in the layers palette and it will bring up a submenu that allows you to make further adjustments to your bevel layer. I've included an attachment that helps illustrate my point.
