Hi there

I've created an adjustment layer (levels) and used it as a mask to lighten the foreground, but keep the sky dark. (by painting the sky black on the adjustment layer)

Now I want to darken the sky even further - is there a way to make a selection based on the mask? I don't want to paint the sky all over again on a mask in a new layer - too much time involved.

Here's the photo in PS -

Thanks in advance!

From the screenshot you still have your mask (adjustment) layers. The answer is quite simple. All you have to do is Ctrl + Click on the mask thumbnail. Depending on the color either the area you want will be selected or the rest of the layer. If its the area your want, then you are done. If its the rest of layer (area you don't want), simply go to Select - Inverse. Hope this helps.

Instead of making a new layer w/ layer mask, try changing the blend mode of the adjustment layer to make the sky darker. Set the adjustment layer to Multiple or Darken and see how that turns out.

...Ctrl + Click on the mask thumbnail...Select - Inverse...Exactly the method that came to my mind, too.

Thanks! Just after I posted I accidentally stumbled on the solution of ctrl click! Go figure :p
