I am about to throw my mouse through the window! It works perfectly normal, except it will not scroll down a page anymore. It did this once before but I can't remember what I did to fix it.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Hi Paperlily! I had this problem as well. I saw on the Apple message boards that evidently this is a common problem. One of the suggestions is to turn the mouse upside down and firmly roll the roller ball around. Do it pretty hard. This sometimes worked for me. I eventually changed over to a wireless mouse. Check the Apple message boards for "scrolling problems". Hope this helps.

Ah-ha! That did it. Thank you! I've been considering switching to a wireless mouse. It's just at the bottom of my "wants" list right now. Thanks again!

Hi Paper Lily ...

It happens when the little ball thing gets dirty, its the grease from your fingers that does it ... I just use a bit of screen cleaner on mine

... and by the way the wireless mouse is just the same but I really love it and its far better on batteries than the previous version but its still better to use rechargeables :)

I end up disembowelling my mouse once every 2 months or so and cleaning the ball, as well as cleaning the 4 stupidly small rollers that the ball sits on. I found some site showing how to do it. Once you've managed to remove the grey oval ring that the mouse actually sits on, it's fairly easy.

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to say how much I love my wireless mouse. I did have a problem with the first one, but tech support sent me out a new one next day air. I love Mac support! :D

My iMac is 2-1/2 years old. I called Apple and complained about the Mighty Mouse scrolling very poorly for some time in spite of my attempts to clean the scroller ball. They promptly sent me a new Mighty Mouse at no charge, the only stipulation being that I had to send back the old MM. The new MM works well. Lesson learned: I should have complained sooner.

Apple are really good when you have problems ... they did the same for me when the wire on a old mouse came loose :)

IMO the MM is junk.
Get a good third party mouse.

Tom ...

Something has happened to your signature ... part of it seems now to be hidden ??

Throw the MM out the window and get a Logitech M555b Bluetooth mouse(if you have a Bluetooth enabled iMac).

The track ball on the MM is susceptible to getting "gunked up" very easily. Check out all the You Tubes videos dealing with this problem.
