Hi Chuck - my thoughts exactly.
BTW - Buyers should ignore the rebate form that comes in the box with the disk - it has the address of a fulfillment center that went bankrupt (in Phoenix). Better to print out and use the rebate form with the correct address from the on-line form at amazon's PSE 7 page (or at least mail the in-box form to the correct El Paso address). I had no luck applying for the rebate on-line (after several days of effort), so ended up mailing it in. Shortly thereafter I received e-mail acknowledgment that my rebate was in process.

You have provided a place where the eternally-anxious-for-the-next-version can say that they "saw on the web that Elements 8 is coming soon"...

It will surely have fully-implemented curves and layer masks, and all features of ACR will be enabled!
Don't you think??! ;)

Me too. Costco always heavily discounts software (and some hardware) just before it's about to be replaced by the next version, and they just finished a promotion that had PSE 7 at $50.

That's hard to pass up! Make sure you read the fine print. That particular rebate is for an Upgrade only, although quite a few editing programs are included in the allowed list, in addition to Adobe products.
Also, for that claim form, the pse7 must be purchased at Amazon...which appears to be a great deal! Now, if I could only decide to wait for 8 or purchase 7! So far, I'm not liking what I read about 7. The trial version I downloaded is not working properly, so I may give up and wait for 8.

Elements 7 is the first version I've skipped, going all the way back to Elements 1. I haven't been tempted by any of the discount offers to date; I'm holding firm to that. Looking forward to a "Great Eight"! :)

There is quite a list of products that qualify for the $20 rebate. From Adobe: any previous version of Photoshop Elements, Photoshop Album, Photoshop LE, PhotoDeluxe, or Photoshop Album Starter Edition. From others, MS Digital Image Pro or Suite, MS PictureIt!, Google Picasa, JASC Paint ShopPro, Studio or Album, Corel Paint Shop Pro, Studio or Album, ULead Photo Impact, Roxio PhotoSuite, Magix Digital Photo Maker or PhotoStory. For the freebie Picasa proof of ownership you need merely send a screenshot of the About screen in the Help menu.
I sent a photocopy of the cover of my Corel Paint Shop Pro X User Guide as proof of qualifying ownership.

Wow. Picasa is free and this is the first time I've seen a software company offer a rebate for using a free program. It looks to me like Adobe is trying to unload all of their PSE 7s and bring in a little cash before they release 8.
