I recently retouched a image that I wanted to show the 'before and after '. So I searched the forums and found many threads for animation gif's but, I'm still stumped and must be doing something wrong. I already have the after done so I found where Sepiana explained to open both images and ' Select all and copy the after and paste onto the before'. I end up with both on layers but when I 'Save to the Web' do I highlight both or which one. ? On the ' Save to Web' page I change to gif but things don't work from there for some reason. I'm lost even after trying to follow the many threads.

Hi Tony,
I tried and it didn't matter which layer was selected. The important thing is to have the "After" layer at the top of the stack, so the animation will begin with "Before".
In the "Save for Web":
1. Click in the Animate checkbox.
2. Click in the Loop checkbox.
3. Select the number of seconds you want in the Frame Delay drop-down menu.
You can preview the animation, by clicking "Preview in..." at the bottom of the screen.

Sepiana,
When I 'Save for Web' it ask me to reduce the size/pixels which I do to 600 longest side. GIF is selected in left column but the animation, loop etc is 'greyed out ', thats where I'm doing something wrong ??

Hi Tony,
You got me here. I don't know what's going on. I've just tried to animate an image which was 1000 x 1000 and had no problems.
I noticed you have PSE5. I remember some past threads discussing a problem similar to yours. I found two of them. They may shine a light on this situation.

Hopefully someone with more expertise will come to your help.

Try resizing at 500 pixels longest side. Then try save for web checkmark animate and make sure it is on gif.

When I get that message, I cancel, go back to my document, and reduce it in Image>Resize Image. It then works.

Some time ago I tried animation but found out I couldn't do it on a Mac. Are you using a Mac? BillandCat
