Image Freezing in PSE 7

I'm not sure whether this question had been asked before my apologies in advance. I have experienced this problem recently whilst working with an image the whole screen just locks up and the only course of action is to press the reset button. This means that all the work is completely lost. Has anyone any idea how to get round this problem and avoid it happening again. I'm just starting out with PS Elements 7 so any advice would be more than welcome.

Hi Cerberus, does this happen often... and can you remember exactly what you were doing at the time it froze?

It's always wise to save your work as you go, just in case the program or computer crashes... the keyboard shortcut is Ctrl-S (Mac: Command-S).

Hi Cerberus, sorry about your problem. in the mean time I suggest that keep saving as often as possible.
You can probably set up an automatic save and set it for every 30 seconds or less.
Once you save it's never lost.

Many thanks indeed for your replies. The incident happened when I was selecting via the Magnetic lasso tool. I have just bought PSE 7 after the good reviews that it received. My system Win XP, 2.8CPU, 2GB RAM, 160GB HD. Incidentally I had this problem with PSE 4 sometime back it would now seem that it has returned to plague me. Many thanksconce again for your replies.
