I have been seeing some problems that come up with PSE7 by seeing members posting's. Is it best going with PSE6 and just pass on PSE7?

If you shoot raw stay away from PSE 6. I'm on here right now trying to solve problems with the thumbnails disapearing from raw files. Havn't tried PSE 7 yet.

Hey firepack -
And what software did not have problems?? :D
I have had both and they both have worked well for me, although some people have issues. One of the things I noticed in moving to PSE7 was that there was not much of a change - although I do like the "Smart Brush" feature. The "Quick Selection" tool in PSE6 was a much bigger deal, for me anyway.
I just wanted to point out that Adobe usually releases a new version of PSE around October or so. So if you are on the fence about versions - maybe a short wait will bring the version that has no bugs, includes great features, is economical and maybe washes your dishes! ;)
BTW - Welcome to Elements Village!
Good luck,
Steve

Ok I just ordered PSE7. I found that it was cheaper at amazon then at staples.
Is there any thing I should know before I install it? I'm using windows XP.

Glad you made your decision - I'm sure it's going to be great! ;)
I see from your other post that you are a new user. So, I might mention that with the Windows version comes the Organizer - and therein lies many problems. Mostly because the people don't know how the Organizer works. It's basically a database - it only keeps track of your photos, it doesn't store them - that's it.
It does not:
>> Copy your photos (it only stores small thumbnails) Don't delete from your hard drive once you import into the Organizer (some people have).
>> Know where you move photos to - IF you move them from the Windows Explorer. Do all your moving from within the Organizer. Many people get the Disconnect Icon in the Organizer after they have moved photos or folders in Windows - the Organizer then does not know where the photos have gotten to.
I've always have pretty good luck with the Organizer, tagging and finding my 3000+ images. Just remember it's a database and work from within the Organizer and it should work fine for you too.
When you are up and running keep coming here and learn how PSE7 works - the people here are great and are very knowledgeable - do some tutorials. When I started, I lurked here and learned so much reading the posts. Have fun with it,
Good luck,
Steve

Generally the Editor will put back the edited photo back where it got it from. To set where your photos will be located by default, go to the Organizer>Edit> Preferences>Files>Folder for Saved Files . . . Browse for your preferred location and then "OK" to save.
The Organizer is also where you set up your default location for importing photos from your camera or card reader.
Organizer>Edit>Preferences>Camera or Card Reader>Save Files In: . . . Browse to location and save.
If you are just looking to put a few photos in a different location . . . use the Editor>File>Save As . . . and choose a new location.
Good luck with your new copy of PSE7!
Steve
