Since installing PSE7 I have noticed that the WinXP setting that controls whether an application can steal focus has been getting set to prevent the stealing of focus. I have, through a bunch of testing, discovered one cause. When the Organizer starts up the Editor, the focus setting is set to prevent focus stealing.

Grrrrr...... I do not want PSE7 fiddling with my Windows settings. That is not nice.

Anyone notice this happening to them?
Anyone know how to prevent PSE7 from doing it?

PS: FYI, when an application starts up it typically opens a window and makes it appear up front. That is, it steals the focus. There is a Windows setting that will prevent a new application from stealing focus and that is what PSE7 is setting. If focus stealing is prevented, the new application starts up and its entry on the task bar blinks to let you know it need attention. PSE5 does not do this.

Larry....

There is definetly something odd about PSE7 Organiser that wasn't in previous versions.

I don't get exactly your problem all the time but it does mis-behave occassionally and I'm using Vista. I don't see it on my XP laptop.

I have two screens - sometimes I want it to open on #1 and sometimes I move it to #2. It doesn't always remember where I left it and sometimes it just appears on the task bar as you describe.

It wont get fixed by Adobe in this version and most likely if they fix it in PSE8 they'll break something else.

It might be worth filing a bug report if you want, but don't hold your breath for a fix. Personally I just live it - annoying but not life threatening :-)

I'm going to file a bug report on this and the scroll bars not working.
On the focus stealing, I can almost see why the editor would do it since it would not be nice to have another window pop up as you are clicking away at editing something. On the other hand, the editor should save the setting and restore it when it exits.
I was perfectly happy with PSE5 leaving the focus control alone. Other apps don't typically pop up windows (at least on my system).
