Hello everyone, I've been searching for a solution to this problem for a couple of days, so I thought I would ask it here:

The company I work for sends out a monthly email newsletter from a template that was created using Photoshop CS4. To save time and money, they recently installed PS7 so that they could edit the template themselves instead of going back and forth with the designer.

The designer sent over the template he uses, but there are two layer sets which I can't unlock. I called and asked if he could send it without layer sets and he said, "they definitely weren't locked when I sent them."

Am I correct in assuming that you cannot unlock layer sets in Elements?

If so, there has to be some sort of workaround to this problem. I need to unlock the layers so I can insert the proper text/images. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated...thanks

A Layer Set cannot be unlocked in Elements by itself. You will need to add an add on set of action suchs as Elements+ to do it. It has the ability to group and ungroup layers.

A recent thread can be located here. Someone creates an action to this. It is post #6 Here is the thread

Thank you! That information is incredibly useful and relevant.

If I have any questions about layers sets in Elements, I'll be sure to ask on the previously created thread.

Thanks again

Edit* (P.S. I followed the instructions on the other thread on how to install the layer sets actions and they worked perfectly)
