New external hard drive, no preview picts, just hour glasses.

Using El 6..Just got a new external hard drive, and used Restore from DVD to load data back in, everything seems to have come into the new hard drive, but very few pictures in Organizer, there all mostly hour glasses. When I click on one, it is shown, but cannot preview. What needs to be done?
