I created a bunch of Gallery slideshows in PSE5 and was quite unhappy after installing PSE7 to learn that galleries are gone. After trying out the PSE7 Album sharing facility I have learned that shared albums look a lot like slideshows and one of the templates, Classic, is pretty much identical to the classic template I was using in PSE5.
I'm happier now. I've noticed a couple of differences. The photos display somewhat bigger in 7 than in 5 so the slideshow files take up more disk and web site space. However, when they are selected (referenced?) on a web site, they start displaying a lot faster. It appears that they do not wait for the entire download to happen before they start displaying. That's a huge improvement!
Wouldn't it be wonderful if the PSE7 upgrade info (installation read-me) said something about how to use the PSE7 album sharing facilities to get a close approximation to a PSE5 gallery slideshow? Sure would have deflected some of my unhappyness about spending $$ for PSE7.
