Is it worth upgrading to PSE7 from PSE6. Does it make that much difference in PP. Also, does 7 download RAW images.---Thanks

You can go to adobe.com and download the 30 day-trial version of PSE7 so you can see for yourself it is worth upgrade. PSE7 has many of the same features as PSE 6 and new features such as the Smart Brush Tool. PSE 7 also can read RAW files like PSE6.

Are you wanting to download from your camera or SD card to your hard drive using PSE6. You can probable use the Organizer in PSE6 to download it.

I use Picasa to download my JPG and RAW files. Hopefully someone more knowledgable in the Organizer will come along.

Now, if you mean open already downloaded files, just have PSE6 open, then go to File > Open to open your RAW files. Make sure though you have the most recent Adobe Camera Raw for PSE6 installed.

Gatornole, OK, I have to ask about the "screen name". Most of the Forum users won't get it, but being from Florida, it is clear to me...at least it makes me wonder about the obvious conflict. Watzup with that?

PSE 7 fixes a couple of serious bugs in the PSE 6 Organizer:

1. The PSE 6 Organizer can't always generate the thumbnails of raw files, and sometimes it crashes. If you'll be using 6 with raw files, see this tech note for a workaround:

http://www.adobe.com/go/kb403728

2. The PSE 6 File > Move command will permanently delete a file if the destination folder contains a file with the same name as that being moved.

Thanks that answers my question!

Won't PSE8 be out in a few months? If so, wouldn't it be better to wait to upgrade? I have PSE5 and am waiting for PSE8 before upgrading.

In the past, new releases of PSE for Windows have come out late September / early October (in time for the Christmas season). I haven't seen any specific mentions of PSE 8 yet.

Yep, October has been the month a new version is released for the past several years. For Windows at least.

Well, to pick tiny nits with the Wikipedia page, here are the dates I received the "ready to download" messages from the Adobe store:

9/29/2008 PSE 7
9/27/2007 PSE 6
9/26/2006 PSE 5
