View Full Version : Questions before I buy

I'm considering buying PE6 (Mac) and have a couple of questions. Currently, I just use iPhoto.

1. I really want the Pearly Whites plug-in for Photoshop. In fact, that and the Shiny Face plug-in would be my main purpose for buying, so I want to make sure they will work. Will they, and other plug-ins, work with PE?

2. I tried to download a trial of PE6 (Mac) and the Adobe site said the trial was unavailable until tomorrow. It made me wonder if they are about to come out with a new Mac version. When is the next Mac upgrade thought to be coming out?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi lattelady ..

... and welcome to the Village :)

Adobe don't give advanced warning of when new versions are due out so its not really possible to say when there is going to be a new version of Elements for the Mac ..

As far as those plugins ... I have never heard of them but I'm pretty sure that they are not going to work in Elements. There is a demo version if you do want to try them out with a demo version of Elements.

... but as the price of both of them is about $100 then unless you are going to use them a lot then its going to be an expensive way of achieving those effects.

Teeth and eye whitening is actually quite easy to do in Element but removing a skin shine is slightly more complicated.

Hi lattelady, as Wendy pointed out many of what you want can be done in Elements. There's a lot more that Elements can do, and a rather long learning curve.
If you think a new version is coming out I would suggest you wait until tomorrow and try the trial version. I think the trial is for 30 days, that will buy you some time to see whether the new version will be offered.

There is a low-priced plugin called Shine Off that does a fairly decent job of removing shine spots from skin surfaces. It is quite simple to use. Trial version is available that imprints a watermark. I've used it in Elements 4 and 7.
