I recently posted about many issues with PSE7 versus my previous PSE5 version. You can read all the gory details at
http://www.elementsvillage.com/forum...ad.php?t=48450 (http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48450)

But now I'd like to start discussing individual issues.

After fully uninstalling and reinstalling PSE7, I still could not get any services. So I changed my services location to United Kingdom and two services are now listed under SHARE More Info...

And now PhotoMail works. And I can create a PDF Slideshow and send it through the mail. Will wonders ever cease?

If I set the services location to United States, I get no services and those things do not work.

Is there an issue with keeping the location as United Kingdom?

PS: I will soon be doing some more SHARE experiments to see what else is working. But I'm out of time now since it is a holiday here (Independence Day) although it is not that holiday in the United Kingdom. :)

Since I had set my services location to United Kingdom (rather than the US where I actually am located), I have noticed only one side effect. When I tried to make a Photo Collage the only page sizes it offered were A4 (210mm x 297mm) and 300mm x 300mm. I temporarily changed my location back to the US and was offered multiple page sizes that we use here. I had to change the location back to United Kingdom otherwise I have no services.
Isn't this a wonderful kettle of fish??

That's really bizarre, Larry. Perhaps Adobe inadvertently packaged a UK version of PSE7 in your box.

Same problem here, driving me crazy!!!! Why this is so complicated is beyond me. Please post if you figure something out. For what it's worth I don't have the status bar notification mailbox/message thing the online instructions reference either.

CJ49424,
What is the "status bar notification mailbox/message thing" you reference?

Diana, I'm an ex-HP employee and get special offers from time to time. HP presented an excellent offer (via email) to get PSE7 so I ordered it through that offer. Clicking the hp provided link took me to a seemingly standard Adobe site to order PSE7 but the price was a bit lower than their standard price. I then downloaded it. The rest is history -- not all fun history, but history none the less.

I guess I'm saying that I didn't get PSE7 in a box with a CD. Strictly a download. But it truly was an extremely complicated download involving way more software (special downloaders) and tons of Java and god knows what else. I was pretty fed up by the time it finally did the download. The best part was that the download did complete (something like 470MB) and executed just fine.

The instructions on this page is what I was referencing. Item 3.0, specifically.

Another interesting point, I also downloaded this from a special offer inside a HP printer cartridge. Saved $10 maybe. I wonder if it's crippled for HP in some fashion, to eliminate competitive options to their printing. Very strange and frustrating. I don't know if a workaround exists.

CJ49424,
My organizer has a status bar with the name of the catalog, number of items selected and total number of items, and a little box with left and right arrows in it. Hovering over that box produces a help tip that says Backup/Synchorization of OFF. I've never seen the little mailbox or envelope referred to in the help item you referenced. The help item didn't seem totally clear to me about whether or not the mailbox and envelope would be there all the time or only if something happened with a services update or new service becoming available.

I have never seen a way to see what services you actually have.
Does anyone know how to see what services you have?

Yes, mine is the same as you described.

I think if you had more services, they would show when you pick "more options" in the share menu. Instead mine just says "learn to do more with your photos...".

I have no access to any online sharing sites either, other than photoshop.com.

My solution, for now, is to use picasa for ordering prints. I like the organizational features of Photoshop, and the editor as well of course. I didn't realize there were as many bugs is PSE7. I just bought it because it was on sale and I believed that it was the leader, just from name recognition I guess.

"More options" said the same thing for me when the location was USA but with United Kingdom it list two things and Photo Mail works along with some other things mentioned in my original post.
I am also amazed at how many bugs are in PSE7 versus PSE5. In PSE5 everything worked which keeps me wondering why I'm still messing around trying to get PSE7 to work. Might be getting to the end of my rope....

I have discovered an Editor Preference for the units for photo projects.
It was set to mm. I changed it to inches and now I get the usual paper sizes even though my location is United Kingdom.
