I just got a copy of Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowski's book "The PSE 6 Book For Digital Photographers."
In "The Quick Q&A" section an online chapter on the Mac Bridge was alluded to.
How do I find the link to this?
The stuff on RAW in this book doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe it's all about using the Organizer. I bought the book to learn about RAW.

The link is found on pg xv in the Q&A section. The link is www.kelbytraining.com/books/elements6 (http://www.kelbytraining.com/books/elements6)

Thanks, Johnny. I'd found it upon second glance.
I haven't had a chance to print it out yet. Does it deal with RAW?

That link will go to the Elements 6 book page and there is found the link for the bonus Restoration chapter 14, but I do not see anything about a bonus Bridge chapter for Mac users. The Restoration chapter contains nothing about Bridge. Perhaps that Bridge chapter has been withdrawn?
As for RAW problems mentioned by the OP, so far as I am aware ACR functions identically in both MAC and Windows versions of the program. He should have no problems following those RAW file editing instructions.

PS OOPs - Saw the Bridge chapter is right at the top of the chapters list.

On the site, the downoad deals with Bridge just like Ch1 in the PSE6 Book deals with the Oraganizer. Chapter 2 deals with RAW. I'm still new to RAW and still learning it.

The Chapter is CHapter 1b way at the top. OK not at the way top. But at the top of the list of downloads.

Hi John - Our posts just crossed. I just worked my way through the RAW chapter in the Elements 7 edition of the book, which I know you have, and I thought it was very well presented.

I've a Mac and only can use PSE6. The book I referred to was a PSE6 book.

What I have found is that regardless if it is the PSE6 Book or the PSE7 Book (and even a PSE5 book), the books are 95% the same. The only 5% difference will be the photos in the books and if there is anything new in latest PSE version.
As for your PSE6 book. Just look at Chapter 2 for RAW.

I tried but the PSE wouldn't recognize the files it copied. I guess I need to contact Olympus now.

I do a few ways. Unlike in the book that says to use to Organizer to open it, I do it this way.
Method #1:
Using Picassa (free download from Google) it can recognize my RAW files, then I just right-click and go to Open With... and I open with Adobe Photoshop Elements (Editor).
Method #2:
With the PSE Editor already opened, I just go to File Open, then select my RAW Photo. The downside is that since Windows does not recognize the RAW format, I cannot "see" what the photo looks like.
I know you use a Mac, but give the above a try.
Oh, and be sure that you have the latest Adobe Camera Raw plug-in for your camera.

Johnny I downloaded a RAW Adobe plugin.
How do you manually install it?
jjvera00

You may need to download it again. I realized that the link I gave you was for Photoshop CS4 and not Photoshop Elements. Here is the correct link
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4523
Below the download link is the instruction. Here they are.
Installation Instructions
To open a DMG file:
Double-click the file. This will open Disk Copy, which mounts the image on your desktop.
To install with Adobe Photoshop Elements 6:
NOTE: You must follow all of the new instructions in order to successfully install the Camera Raw Plug-in for Photoshop Elements.
1. Exit Photoshop Elements and Adobe Bridge
2. Open the download file and double-click CameraProfiles.dmg and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Navigate to the root of the local disk (not the user's home folder).
4. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)
Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats
5. Move the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw, from the download into the same folder as in Step 4.
7. Launch Photoshop Elements or Adobe Bridge

Thanks. I believe it's successfully installed.
I still can't get Adobe or iPhoto to recognize the RAW files.
And Oympus customer service is closed today too.

What is your Olympus camera model? And when you installed the ACR plug-in was PSE6 already opened? Did you restart it?
Also, if your camera is newly released from Olympus was is it on the list of cameras on the link I sent you to download ACR.

Thanks but neither Adobe or Apple recognize my files.
I guess it's an Olympus issue?

I went back to the Adobe site and the ACR 5.4 plugin supports Olympus E-620 camera. How did you try to open the RAW file in PSE6?

I forgot. Probably from the Welcome Page's option to import from the camera.

So you do not have the photos on your computer yet. Try downloading them from the camera first then try to open in PSE.

I've tried it that way too.
My brother just tried opening a file with my camera in his Photoshop CS and the image didn't pop as it does with his older Olympus. Then when he tried to download it wasn't a recognizable file.

You said your brother tried ot open it in Photoshop CS. Back on the Adobe website, the latest version of ACR 5.4 is for Photoshop CS4. It may or maynot work on Photoshop CS.
I will send you a PM with my email address. Try emailing me a file and I will see if I can open it.

He's out of luck; he has CS3 at the moment.
I used the RAW edit in camera feature and came up with a better image but it wouldn't download.

Hooray! I got the patch installed. A guy on the Adobe forum helped. I installed the profiler too.

These are all shot on RAW and edited in PSE6. They may not all be edited with great skill.

I wonder if the chapters in Kelby's book "The Adobe Photoshop CS3 For Digital Photographers" on Bridge are the same as the downloadable chapter in "The PSE 6 Book For Digital Photographers"?
