View Full Version : Adobe cannot fix

Was online with Adobe today for 3 straight hours and conclusion was: This problem is not for level 1 so I was told that I would be contacted soon but there was no answer for the problem.

Now if I try to load EITHER PPE7 or PSE7 I get the license issue. Since I have already applied the license fix the problem still continues. This is my screen when trying to load either programs.

Also another interesting fact is that in my control panel, it shows 2 listings for Photoshop Elements 7 and 1 listing for Premier Elements 7. Support thinks that I might have downloaded a trial version and then purchased the program and it installed twice. That is a possibility but WHY when I select any one of these programs (Premier or Elements) the option to uninstall is not available (it is available for any other program listed in the control panel). Therefore Support gave me the instructions to manually uninstall the programs.

My concern now is what happens to the hundreds of brushes, actions, effects, patterns, add-ons, backgrounds etc. I just did a back up of all my existing Adobe Premier and Elements directories to my 32 gig usb drive so all is backed up.

Any suggestions before I do the total re-install and any information on how to easily put it all back together? (I own Graffi's Add-O-Matic) I have downloaded my software with license information.

Phew! I see some of the Pro's are in forum now so I will wait and see if someone tells me to WAIT before I pull the plug. p.s. I have also deleted both pref's and media-db file and thumbnail and still nothing.

Vista Home Premium 32
2 gig memory
160 gig hd
core 2

Plenty of power but no punch! lol

Jerry -

Have you done a "System Restore" to just before you started having the problem? Microsoft has been pushing all sorts of things down the auto update lately. I review all the files they send at me but recently I allowed several items including IE8 to download and had all sorts of graphics problems.

To do a system restore go to the control panel, select "Backup and Restore Center" then "Repair Windows using System Restore". Follow the instructions on the screen and select a restore point slightly before you started with the problem. This will restore all the program files and registry configuration to that last known working point. It will not disturb any graphic file you have created since the restore point.

Then set your updating to require you approval before updates are installed.

You know that is very true regarding IE8 and other stuff from Microsoft.

When I first read your post I remembered that I had considered a system restore but thought against it since there were also other problems. Such as two instances of PSE7 showing in my control panel list of installed programs.

Now I could get rid of the current license issue I think with a restore point restore but the other problem will need me to do a manual uninstall per Adobe.

Sounds like I have convinced myself. lol Now I just need to bite the bullet and do it. Ok that's it off to uninstall. Too late save yourselves!!! lol

Thanks!

Ok now this is enough! Went to all the trouble of uninstalling PSE7 so I could get it to load.

Did it the manual way - editing registry included and then re-installed PSE7 and it loads just fine but when I shut down I am still getting these messages. Also there is only one listing in my control panel for PSE7 with the ability to uninstall the program whereas before there were two listings for PSE7 and you could not uninstall either.

In fact what I did was to install PSE7 and reboot - ran the program and all was well so I went to control panel and did an uninstall of the brand new install just because I had to do it the manual way and wanted to correctly uninstall the program. Then I rebooted and installed it again.

Going back to Adobe and see what they say on this. By the way I did not uninstall my version of PRE7 and in the control panel it still does not have the ability to uninstall the original install so I am going to uninstall it the manual way. Never used PRE7 because I own and am trained on Proshow Producer 4.0 which does similar things as PRE7.

Shown are the two screens that appear after closing PSE7?????

P.S. have not re-installed the add-on's or actions etc yet. I can now load PRE7 without license issue before re-installing PSE7 so the re-install fixed that issue for PRE7. Actually makes some sense.

Anyone in the world of Adobe reading this have any issues like mine? Solutions?

Thanks - will keep posting so if anyone runs across a similar situation they have some information regarding their similar issue.
