View Full Version : Help! Brush Transparency

I have Photoshop Elements 6.
I am trying to use the brush tool to draw with solid colors.

I don't know what caused the problem but it just started happening one day. No matter what brush I use, I draw at 50% opacity (with or without my graphics tablet plugged in). The tablet sensitivity is set to affect the shape not the opacity, anyway. Both the stroke and layer opacity are 100% and both the brush and layer modes are set to normal. I've checked out each individual brush setting, none have any effect on the problem.

I've tried resetting all the tools, and resetting the brush tool from brush options. I found an interesting post that said you could fix this exact brush problem by holding control+alt+shift immediately after you click "edit" from the welcome screen, but my welcome screen has nothing on it that says "edit", only "start from scratch" and some import-from-another-place options. Maybe that was a windows fix? What would the Mac alternative be? I've tried holding ctrl+alt+shift everywhere.... even opening up preferences and doing it there.

Please, any help. :( I can't use my PSE until this is fixed.
Thanks so much for even ATTEMPTING to help!

Hi, you have to do it from the editor screen.
Set the welcome screen to so you can open the editor directly.
Then hold the Shft+Ctrl+Alt keys while the editor opens.

This reset works the same on Mac or PC.
It fixes a lot of wierdnes/

Hi ...

... and welcome to the Village :)

Its a little easier on the Mac as we only have the Editor so you don't have the added step of clicking on Edit from the Welcome screen, however the keys are different when you are using a Mac.

Try this:

Close down Elements then click on the start up icon and quickly hold down the Command, Option and Shift Key. Continue to hold down all three keys until you get a screen asking if you want to delete Settings ... just say Yes. You do have to be quick holding down the keys so if you have problems with it try holding down the keys with one hand before you start up Elements :)
