I use my pse all the time and I have about 50 additional actions installed, about 10 pattern sets and alot of brushes. I also have 3 plug in programs. What is slowing it down? It takes about 40 seconds per pictures for it to open each of theme. It is really running slowly now. I installed it about 3 months ago and it ran really efficiently but now it is painful to work in it. Is there an easy fix to this? thanks Soooo much!!!

You don't say whether you are on a Mac or PC.
Could it be that there is another program, say antivirus, running in the background that is slowing your machine down.
How much memory do you have, is there plenty of free space on your scratch disk, does your hard disk need defragmentation, have you added other software recently?

1.Use the Task Manager - Hold down the Crtl and the Alt and the Delete keys together. The Task Manager will show which applications and processes are running
2. Use "System" to display the basic machines specification. Start then Settings then Control Panel then System
3. "Scratch Drive" See Photoshop Elements Help - Press F1 then Index Tab then Scratch Disk for an explanation. Then in PSE (Photoshop Elements) Goto to Edit then Preferences the Plug-Ins and Scratch Disk to see what disk your PSE is using. I guess it will say Startup which is your main disk i.e, C: drive.
How much spare space is there on your hard disk? Goto Computer then right click on your C: drive then Properties. It will tell the size of the disk and how free space you have.
My setup is Windows XP and PSE 5. Even if you have a different setup the commands will be similar.

You may have a default printer (network or locally attached) that is responding slowly. See solution 3 of this tech note for how to quickly troubleshoot this:
