Hi everyone,
I have PSE6; had it about a year; finally getting around to getting into it deeply. Wondering if I should just learn it or get PSE 7 and start with the latest greatest. Are new features in 7 worth it? Would it be smart to start at the latest version so I don't have to play 'catch -up' or is that relevant. Any thoughts or advice welcome. I have used Organizer extensively in 6 and dubbed around with some editing (very basic) but really want to take it further creatively and feel comfortable. Thanks in advance for answers.

Kristy, welcome to the forum.
If you learn PE6 well there'll be no 'catch -up' required. Once your well versed with a software you can find your way around any upgrade.
You can cope with the differences between the versions.
I would stick, and polish up on PE 6 and then upgrade to the next version.
Unless you just want the latest and can afford it.

Hi Kristy ...
I would be inclined to stay with what you have and learn using PSE6 ... they once you are comfortable with it think about upgrading then :)

Hello Kristy
You have came to the right place to learn Photoshop Elements. There are only a few new items in PSE7, but the majority of all versions of PSE are the same. So, for now, stick with PSE6, and wait for PSE8 (which should be available in the fall). Or, if you want, download the trial version of PSE7.
But, in the mean time, WELCOME!!! If you have any questions, just ask.

I am always happy to help someone else spend their money. ;)
Costco currently has PSE 7 on sale for $80, and there's a coupon available for members that brings it down to $50.

My opinion, which is worth exactly $.02, is that if you're determined to learn PSE, spend the $50 to upgrade to the latest version because in the long run that's the one you'll want to use. (I have no idea when V8 will be out but will tell you from experience that when Costco begins heavily discounting software the next version is around the corner somewhere.)

Welcom Kristy!!
My advice would be to learn PSE6 first as long as you already have it. I have PSE6 and was going to upgrade to PSE7 and went to a seminar on PSE7 and since there aren't a lot of new things in PSE7 I decided to stay with 6 until 8 comes out.
You will get different opinions here because everyone has there unique ideas. Read them all and then think it through before you decide.

Well, I was at costco today and had a coupon and just couldn't resist. I truly have buyers remorse, but not that bad. I do think I would feel like I'm missing something. I promised myself, however, that I will stick with 7 until I'm really comfortable with it! Thanks for all your replies, they really helped me feel welcome!
