I finally got my cross-platform swap from Adobe. It's PSE6 for my MAC.

However, when I try to install it, it says critical error: payloads already installed on computor are incompatible. I had the trial version of the PSE6 installed, because that is what Adobe told me I could do in the meantime. Well, it took them forever and a day to get me my copy and in that time the trial version expired. I thought maybe the serial number from my new copy that they sent me would work, but nah it didn't. So I tried to load my disk and the above error is what I got. I then deleted my trial version thinking it was causing a conflict, but it is still a no go.

Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? I'm a newbie to MAC so it's possible I've skipped a step or something.

Thank you!

It would be helpful if you posted the solution, it could help others who may experience the same problem.

when this has happened before it has been because the demo version hasn't been uninstalled using the uninstaller :)

That is exactly what I did wrong Wendy, and I shall never do that again because it made me waste 4 hours of my life yesterday! lol

I had to download, from the adobe site, a program called maccs3clean.

It was very easy to download, install and run. It took care of the problem within minutes and when I re-installed the PSE6 program it installed with zero problem.

Hi ..

PSE6 is the only Mac software I have come across that causes this problem. The trouble is that we are all so used to simply dragging things into the trash to uninstall that when we come across one that need to be uninstalled well that goes in the trash too.

I do wish that Adobe would change it !!

Wendy:

I'm also having the same trouble installing the program. I have the trial version and I bought a lisence that the trial version do not recognize. Where do I find the unistaller. Is it in the disc? the installation do not go far before finding the error. As you can see I'm new at PS6, apple and this world.

Thanks for your help

Hi Chandor ...

The uninstaller is in Applications>Utilities ... in a folder called Adobe Installers :)

Thanks !!

I finally could install PSE6 (license version) after downloading the maccs3clean file from adobe. The removal of the trial version was a bit tricky but it worked. The unistaller feature was not present in the Adobe Installer folder.

Thanks again

Of course, the smartest way to do it would be to simply let you enter the serial number of your newly purchased program, whenever you got it. Or, maybe by checking to see if the demo version is installed?

Harummph, I say! :D
