In case you didn't see this - the Attorney General of NY came out with an agreement w/ some electronics firms in NY state - they used the "bait and switch" tactic. You can read more about it here:

Good reason to stay with the big firms w/ the great reputations.

Wow! Fascinating stuff. Thanks for the info. I stick with the proven performers (J & R, B & H, Adorama, Calumet). Wonder whether these are some of the companies I see in the back of photo mags.

One of the companies Broadway I used to find easy to deal with, but last time wanted to order something, got the backordered run around-so cancelled the order. My credit card was never charged though. Hope they learned their lesson as I was able to quickly obtain the item from Hunts.

In New York, this is nothing new and its been a part of our Con Man History for a very long time. Thats why there is a very large image of the
"Crazy Eddie" Ad. That store was always using a bait and switch on its unsuspecting customers and that goes back to the mid 70's.

Its a bout time that anything at all has been done. Any of the Photo Stores that people have problems with always get announced in the Forums all over the net from the Photocamel to the Village to warn everybody as fast as we can so we can possibly save someone from loosing there hard earned money.

Another reason everybody here and the other main Forums are always telling people to use the Major Brand Named Stores. Stay away from the smaller places especially when ordering over the Net.

BTW, I am born and raised in New York City...
