Hope someone has advice that will help me. I've search the Forum and not seen this issue discussed. I need to restore my catalog from a DVD backup as my harddrive has failed.
I hve XP with PSE3 installed on c: and Photos on separate harddisk G: Prior to a motherboard upgrade, I did an incremental backup of catalog from PSE3 "just in case". This created a new set of 3 DVD's in addition to the original 3 DVD set from the last complete backup.
During upgrade the G: harddisk ( a 160 Gb Hitachi Deathstar ) emitted a terrible whine and died. I thought that the Backup was a good idea, but now cannot get the restore to work.
Now I have XP and PSE3 running on a new motherboard, Old c: drive with a new NAS Raid on 1000Gb Ethernet.
When I try and restore to a new location on the NAS volume, PSE3 asks for any disk from the last set. The disk goes in and I get an hourglass for a few minutes while the drive spins and activity light flashes. Then I get a dialog box saying there is not a valid catalog  (or was it backup set?) on the disk.
I have tried the first and last disk of the second set and the first disk of the first set to no avail. Would a later version of PSE have more luck restoring?
When the backups were created the disks were all verified. The DVD's seem readable.
Any answers, thoughts, or suggestions greatly appreciated!
