I can't find the thread that brought up this topic and I think it was here. We were talking about people using your photos with out permission. They can take them from the posts and snag them from photo sites. Here is a good example of why we need to be careful of personal photos that yo post.

I could hardly believe what happend to their Christmas photo and all she did was post it for some family and friends and on her blog. You never know who is lerking to take what does not belong to them.

That is why I started watermarking mine.
A friend from another forum found one of her images being used by another photographer in another country as one of her own images.

And now Facebook owns any image posted on it.

Facebook does not own your photos. They do however have the right to use your photo as long it remains on there. Once you delete it, then they cannot use it.

Wow, that's frightening. I have one daughter who refuses to let me post any image of her or her fiancee in my gallery (of course, as luck would have it, she is really photogenic too) Maybe she isn't paranoid after all .

I will be looking at copyrighting my images from now on too. I know there are instructions for it somewhere on this wonderful site.

AussieNan,
If you are a subscriber there are two videos on watermarking that Bayla led me to. Hope it helps.
