I'm having a problem with Windows 7. The "SearchFilterHost" process utilizes all my CPU for days - this is the Windows function that indexes content on the hard drive for fast searching later. There is a report that Adobe's DNG codec may cause this problem. I have installed Photoshop Elements 7, which I assume also installs the DNG codec. In order to troubleshoot this issue, is there any way to uninstall or turn off the DNG codec without uninstalling Elements altogether?

PSE 7 does not install the Adobe DNG codec. I believe that the only way to get the Adobe DNG codec installed is to explicitly download the "release candidate" version from the Adobe web site:
http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/DNG_Codec
If you install it, there will be an uninstaller available via the Control Panel.

Thanks. I guess that's not the problem then.
