Cropping Disappears

I searched for this and could not find an answer.

Periodically when using PSE7 (WinXP), and I go to crop a file, my ability to specify crop size will not work. Placing the cursor in the H and W boxes does nothing--cursor will not move into the boxes. I get a generic crop box which I can resize and move around, but specification by H&W is gone. A restart (if I can do this--see other thread I started) brings it back.

Any wisdom here?

The only thing that pops into my mind is that you may be using the marquee tool at times and the crop tool at other times. They look the same when you're trying to use them.

Occasionally some of the tools' settings like crop dimensions fail to respond. No one has been able to identify why, but to fix it do the following...

In the menu, go to Edit>Preset Manager... and then click "Done" without doing anything else.

Your crop dimensions should now be working again.

This was a problem that surfaced in version 6 and has not been fixed in 7 apparently.
