Just when you think it's all over!

Everything seems to be back to normal EXCEPT files that had been saved as PSD are now NOT showing as photo thumbnails - just the PSD logo. Any suggestions please?:eek:

Also just realised I need to install Grants Tools and the other ones that allow to you to set guides. AND can someone tell me how to show hidden folders please?

The PSD thumbnails will not show in Windows (I assume that's what you are referring to). You can use IrfanView or FastStone (other than the Organizer) to display them.

Sue, here are some basic steps to view hidden files & folders:

Open any folder
Click Tools from the menu and choose Folder Options
In the Folder Options dialog, click the View tab
Scroll down until you see Hidden Files and Folders
Click the button beside Show hidden files and folders
If there is a checkmark in the box beside Hide Extensions for Known File Types, click the box to remove the checkmark
Click OK

You need a file named psicon.dll and a registry patch to enable thumbnail view of .psd files. See the following thread for more info.

Susan, I think the patch Simenon pointed to only works for XP, is that what you restored your system with? Vista has a differnt solution tothe icon porblem.

Hi Sue - It is my understanding that the file\patch fix I referred to in my previous response works with both 32 bit Win XP (which is my System) and with the 32 bit edition of Vista. It does not work with the 64 bit edition of either Vista or XP.

Diana, I had them working in PSE7:) Unfortunately I cannot remember where I got them from, they were really handy :)

Also I cannot fathom how to install Grants Tools. I think I am having a few 'Senior Moments' all rolled into one:eek:

I was able to get the Guides to work in PSE 6 and 7 using Grants Tools and Elements+

I still have PSD thumbnails only for PSD files:( Prior to resetting my computer they showed as photos etc. This is really annoying as it means I have to open each one to see what it is! What am I missing to resolve this?
