Im very new to Phothshop, but the problem i have seems to be out of my control.

Getting the following message when i try to import pics from my IPhoto library.

"Could not import the clipboard because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered"

Also get a "Program Error" message ........

If anyone knows the meaning of "end-of-file" it would be appreciated if it could be shared with me.

Hi ...

... and welcome to the Village :)

I'm not sure how you are doing it but this is my workflow. I transfer all my images from my card into iPhoto, then scan through them and see which need adjusting.

Then I go into iPhoto and do File Export ... and export the photograph to a folder on my desktop (Called from iPhoto).

I then use Bridge to access the photographs and work on them in Elements. When I have finished working on one of them I save it to another desktop folder called to iPhoto.

Once I have done all the photographs I open up iPhoto again and use File import to Library to take them back into iPhoto.

Hope that helps :)

iPhoto and PSE6 (or CS4) don't like to talk to each other when it comes to importing or exporting. It is much safer to first open iPhoto, right click on the photo icon and select "open with PSE6". After working in PSE6, save the new image outside of iPhoto, like on your desktop or a separate folder and then open iPhoto to import that new image. You can also set your preferences in iPhoto to open images in PSE6 when you double click on them. Personally, except for a few select images, I prefer to store images outside of iPhoto and use Bridge to browse and organize.

trondsen, if you do an Elements search of iPhoto you will come up with many links to your question.
However, bear in mind that unless you have thousands of photos you can get along with using Bridge alone.
Bridge allows you to view all photos in any folder.
You can view them, open them, move them, trash them and not have to go through the extra steps needed for iPhoto.

I save the photos in folders based on date, event or subject. Store these in a Photo Archives folder on your HD.
Click on any of these folders in Bridge and you can view and do whatever you wish with the photos.

Bear in mind that if you do keep photographing, you will eventually have thousands of photos. I have 2500 and I'm pretty ruthless when it comes to culling. iphoto is invaluable. I follow the same workflow as Joe. My iphoto preferences are set to open in PSE. I save edited files to a desktop folder and use iphoto's file import feature to bring them in. I do use bridge to browse my memory cards, so i only work on the keepers rather than import from the card to iphoto.

Creating two folders on the desktop like Wendy suggested have now opened the PSE world for me.
Have just removed some people from a picture(by intention)

Hi ...

I also use multiple libraries in iPhoto ... as it makes backing up a whole lot quicker. Each year I start 2 new libraries for example General 2009 & Holiday 2009 and I also have others like Restoration, Scrapbook Pages etc.

To manage the libraries I use iPhoto Buddy (http://www.iphotobuddy.com/)

I think its a fantastic and wish the Apple would add it to iPhoto :)

Hi all

I am having trouble sending multiple pics from iphoto to pse6........I have the preferences set to edit in pse6 when I double click on a photo, which works, but when I want to send 2 or more pics at once I get any number of them showing in the project bin........sometimes 2 out of 3, 2out of 4, 3 out of 5 etc.....
what is the trick to get multiple pics to the project bin at once? I want to use them to make one pic.....
very frustrating!
Any suggestions? thanks....

Hi angrick ...

The method I suggest for this is the one I outlined in message 2 in this thread ... I think its a good way to do it :)

Hi Ang ...

Do try out Bridge ... its a fantastic file browser and once you start using then I am sure that you will love it :)

This is for a slightly older version of the Bridge but it will give you some idea of how you can use it.

To open more than 1 photo in iphoto in PSE, just hold down the command key while clicking on them. Drag them to the PSE icon or set iphoto preferences to edit in PSE and double click them. iphoto can also import multiple photos in a folder back into the library. I like bridge for browsing my card reader as I can look at the images and only open the ones I want to work on rather than importing everything.
