Not sure why, but PE7 won't recognize that I have PSE7 but PSE7 sees PE7 (tested by adding a pic from PSE to the timeline in PE7). I tried sending a template with File-New-Photoshop file and it's grayed out.

Thanks for your help.

Mike,

First I need to fine tune some details...

PSE7 sees PE7 (tested by adding a pic from PSE to the timeline in PE7).
How did you do that? Premiere Elements 7 Get Media/Files & Folders and brought in from hard drive save location.
or probably....
When you opened Premiere Elements 7, you were greeted by the Premiere Elements Organizer which displayed the same thumbnails as the Photoshop Elements 7 Organizer. So, you just dragged one of those images to the Premiere Elements 7 Timeline?

On the other front, what program do you have set to open .psd files? In my Windows XP, this is the route that I follow:
Programs
Accessories
Windows Explorer
Tools
Folder Options
File Types....then scroll down to find out what program is designed there to open a .psd file...is it Adobe Photoshop Elements 7?

Please verify that I am understanding the issue:

You open Premiere Elements 7 (project preset?), then, before you do anything else, you head over to File Menu/New/and find "Photoshop File" grayed out.

To be continued....

OK, let me see if I can explain. In PE 3 (based on how Adobe counts that would be PE6-ha!) when I pulled up a project and clicked on organizer I could sort by my albums in PSE6. Now, with PE7, the only organizer that shows is the PE7 organizer. I have no access to my PSE7 organizer.

and yes, the option to send to PSE7 is grayed out.

Thoughts?

Mike,

I am still pondering your examples, but maybe lets give this a look....

How many catalogs do you have in Photoshop Elements 7? One for photos and one for video and/or some other?

Assuming that you have one catalog and that Photoshop Elements 7 and Premiere Elements 7 are installed on the same computer and sharing a common database, what you see in the Premiere Elements 7 Organizer thumbnail main page is the same as what you see in the Photoshop Elements 7 Organizer thumbnail main page.

If you are specifically looking in Premiere Elements 7 for albums that you created in Photoshop Elements 7, then look to where it says "Filter by: Select Album". The top icons should be for whatever albums that you have created in Photoshop Elements 7.

But, let us forget about the Organizers for now. I just want to know:
1. if you open Premiere Elements 7 with a project preset of NTSC HDV HD 1080i, go to File Menu/New/Photoshop Elements file, does the image that appears in Photoshop Elements 7 have the Image Size of 1440 x 1080 pixels? Or, do you not even get that far, instead being stopped by a grayed out "Photoshop Elements file" ???

I need to sort out in my mind what is happening with
1. File Menu/New/Photoshop Elements file
vs
2. Photoshop Elements 7 and Premiere Elements 7 Organizer and recognition problems.

If I still have not targeted your question, I will give it another try.

Ah-ha! ATR, found out that I need to tell PE7 what catelog to use. Seems it defaults to it's own catelog. So, File-Open Catelog, gets me to the names of all catelogs (I have a few). I dbl clicked the one I wanted and it then .db file appeared. I selected that and bam-there it was.

Thanks for your help.
