Is it possible to turn a layer with a blend mode on it in to a normal layer? I'd like to try a second blend mode on the layer but need it the way it appears after I applied the first blend mode.
Thanks in advance!

With your top layer (the blend mode one) selected, From you layers palette you can right click and select "merge down." You can also to the Layer menu across the top and choose merge down.

Thanks! Guess I wasn't clear. I figured out a way to do what I needed and not sure now how to explain what I was trying to do. Was in a creative fervor and it's all a blur now!
I often check out Corey's tutorials over on Planet Photoshop. If possible I then try to duplicate it using PSE. (I like a challenge!) His balloon one for the movie Up intrigued me so I tried it. Here's what I came up with.

Not quite a "latex" as I'd like, looks more mylar, but I'm happy with it.

The process of merging or flattening a set of layer essentially disposes of the original set of layers and leaves you with one layer instead of the set. Merge down only uses two layers but leaves you with one.
If you want to preserve all of the original layers AND get a merged or flattened layer in the process, then select the topmost layer of the stack of layers you want to merge, often it is your top layer but it doesn't have to be, and then type CTRL ALT Shift E all at the same time. A new merged layer will be created above the layer set and all original layers are left unaffected.
Instead of using all of the layers below the selected layer in this "merge up" you can specifically select (hold the CTRL key down and select the specific layers you want to merge) then do the "3-fingered E" to get a composit layer off the selected layer.

Dom - if you've changed the blend mode of a layer and decide you don't like the effect, click that layer and then simply choose a new blend mode, or go to the very top of the various modes and choose "normal" to return the layer to it's original mode.
