Is there a way to move several clips at once in timeline? I tried control all and then de-selected the clips I did not want to move but it will not allow me to do that. Any thoughts-it is greatly slowing my work flow.

What is the "from/to" in this move? What will not the program allow you to do in some more detail.

basically, I have a sequence of video clips in mind, but then I change the sequence or add more clips. I would love to move some of the clips all together not disrupting the timing of the clips.

I am not sure that I am on same page with you yet, but....

Using the mouse cursor, have you tried drawing a rectangle around the desired clips to select them, followed by clicking and dragging the selection to the desired location? For smaller clips, you might want to expand the Timeline beforehand.

Something like this:

Please let me know if that helped.

I am so glad you asked this question. I have been having the same problem. I saw on a tutorial that if you went to edit-> and selected delete and close gap it would help when taking a section out. When I do this it does delete the section, but it does NOT close the gap.....why? Thanks for the shift click each section and then drag....saving me lots of time.

If there is video or audio on a track above or below the gap the 'close gap' will not work. You would need to move everything else on other tracks out of the way, away from the gap, then use the 'close gap'. In most cases it is just as easy to select all the clips and slide them over to close the gap.

You can Shift + Click to select the clips you want to move together. Once selected you can then right click on any one of the clips and select 'Group'.
This will keep all of those clips together until you 'Un-Group' them.

After Grouping the clips, when you select one they will all be selected. When you move one they will all move together. Just another option ;)

With all this moving clips around, you may find interesting the chat in the following "Locking Tracks" thread that was posted in our Premiere Elements Forum:

Please let us know what turned out to work for you to keep your workflow moving as expected.

ATR,
Thanks again, I knew there was a simple solution.
